I've been planning to do a photo shoot of sorts with Raina - one of my best friends at school - for quite some time, but we've both been so busy that we haven't been able to set up a good meeting time. Today at school, I happened to have my camera with me, and when we ran into each other in one of the hallways, we decided to take a few minutes for some photos. I'm hoping to do a more planned shoot with Raina in the future when we're less busy, but this headshot with her long hair flowing in the background really stood out after looking at the pictures taken today. I'm not all that experienced with portraits, but I thought this was a notch above some of the old ones I've posted before and ended up scrapping. Hope you enjoy it!
not trying to be mean, but not trying to sugar coat anything either...
Very nice tones and lighting, that hall is perfect for portraits.
take a step back, you take photos of people WAY too close, first off it makes people uncomfortable to have a camera that close, and second you chopped off a portion of her head, and you wanted to emphasize the flowing hair, but there is hardly any flowing hair in this photo because you are so close. not to say that being that close isnt good some of the time, but not when you are doing a classic shot like this.
Very nicely done. I like really close-up closeups. Just be sure to focus both eyes. Every time I do a portrait, that's the main comment people make. It's tough, but I assume it's possible since everybody keeps telling me to do it, hahha
